Owner of Waterside Meadery supports Option A

Tim Wood, Project Director, received a statement from Steve Dicker (Sent: 25 February 2010 14:28)
, who represents Robin Smith owner of the Waterside Meadery

Hi Tim

I have had a VERY brief conversation with Robin in New Zealand. He confirms that:-

a) The new scheme was introduced to Chayne (Shane Smith - owner's son) by our local member of parliament, and as such deserved some inspection.

b) On viewing the scheme, it was disappointing to note the lack of detail in working up the proposals.

c) No costings have been done, and NO approaches made to us regarding the release of our property. No mention of compensation for our businesses or the 30 + people employed at the site.

d) We would NOT want to be seen to stand in the way of Penzance retaining its links with the Isles of Scilly in any way.

e) We still fully support option A, as there is (to date) no other option fully developed which we could transfer our support to.

Therefore unless and until 1) we have some approaches to even open negotiations regarding the compensation for vacating the site, and 2) a workable alternative can be seen to be better, then our support clearly remains with Option A.

I hope this clarifies the situation.
Regards
Stephen
